Fall in Love With Fall Wedding Theme

icon1 admin | icon2 Marriage | icon4 06 30th, 2009| icon3No Comments »
Janet R. asked:

The deep love of a couple for each other may be reflected on how they carry their wedding ceremony. A fall wedding, very popular during the month of September and October, is a perfect wedding theme for couples who are looking forward to a warm and intimate wedding reception. This is a perfect date to spend more time together with family and friends for these months are basically home-coming months.

The Venue

To get you started for your fall wedding preparation, you may consider to think of love story books with fall season setting. Actually, a fall wedding can be casual but elegant with a beautiful old mills or barn yard setting. An apple orchard, vineyard or other place that can create a view of fall foliage can make a great setting option as well. You might also look for an ambiance where it has lots of rich dark wood and warmth to make an intimate atmosphere. You can then include a fireplace to add more sensual accent.

The Decorations

Fall wedding decorations can be a sheath of wheat, corn, hay bales and the like. During this season, good harvest is well known, crops like pumpkins, squash, acorns, cornucopias, gourds and even beautiful flowers like mums and sunflowers. Fall color schemes are rich such as red, orange, brown and yellow. These are the colors that can give rich jewel tones to decorate your wedding venues. You can make your own table centerpieces with handmade flower arrangement of sunflowers or mums placed in containers. And perhaps, squash and pumpkins to add accent on your serving table, bars and gift tables. Or make a jack-o-lanterns with decorative patterns rather than scary ideas, you can use a paper bag luminaria for the same effect. With fall wedding, not only you are getting a beautiful wedding backdrop but also an affordable wedding idea.

The Wedding Cake

Obviously, you can serve any wedding cake during your fall wedding, however adding an autumn-themed touch can make a lot more impressive difference. Consider serving a spiced cake or spice chocolate as well. Another cake option could be a marzipan fruit cake, or might as well serve pumpkin bread or apple; pecan or pumpkin pie instead.

The Favors

Of course, your fall wedding is incomplete without fall wedding favors. One of the popular wedding favors are edible treats like fruit jam, chocolates, candies and mints. An apple tied in a gold ribbon or a maple syrup are perfect as well. If your are crafty enough, you can even make your own caramel fruit recipe to be placed inside a your favor boxes or let your guests take your homemade sweet preserves.

If there no enough time for DIY favors, you can do bulk buying at your local wedding shops and even at online stores. They can offer you amazing favor option including today’s very popular custom-made favors. With custom-made favors, you’ll be able to incorporate your own design to your fall wedding accessories. Consider making them personalized, it could be a personalized wedding gifts, favors, to reception supplies.

Special Occasions Require Unique Gifts! Here are Some Ideas :-)

icon1 admin | icon2 Gifts | icon4 06 19th, 2009| icon3No Comments »
Angelique Ellerman asked:

For those of us who have very little spare time and need some quick gift ideas for a variety of different occasions, this article is for you.

Do you have an upcoming wedding? What are you going to give your bridesmaids for gifts? Here are just a few ideas to consider in your search: Jewelry is always appreciated by the ladies. A Sterling Silver Heart Locket with their initial engraved on it looks beautiful or try a personalized sterling silver charm bracelet, both are timeless gifts that can double as your gift or be worn at the wedding. (if it goes with your theme) Maybe get them a personalized jewelry box to go with their beautiful jewelry. Try a practical gift like a personalized manicure ladies travel kit. Every woman needs a nail clipper or file handy at all times. One more idea would be to get them a personalized crystal wine glass.

What about the groomsmen? A personalized glass beer mug or personalized beer stein makes a great gift idea. Or try an engraved shot glass. Gifts they will not only use but they probably don’t already have one like it. A personalized timepiece money clip is a traditional gift, but with the added flare of a built in watch. Last but not least would be a stainless swiss army like pocket knife. All guys like to fix things, so why fight it.

Maybe it’s not your wedding, but you’d like to give a one of a kind gift. If you know the happy couple isn’t going to do a unity candle, get them a personalized wedding unity candle with their names, date, and a special saying just for them. Another wedding idea is a set of engraved wedding toasting flutes. Or a personalized set of drinking glasses will be a great addition enjoyed by any new couple just starting out. Instead of a traditional guest book, get them a guest book that can actually be engraved by all the guests. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the chances of these just being stored away and never seen again is very slim. All these wedding gifts are truly unique and will be proudly displayed for many years to come. Of course ask the bride and groom if they would like to include these ideas in their wedding, but in my humble experience they will love your thoughtfulness.

Maybe you’re celebrating an upcoming anniversary. A personalized photo frame makes a thoughtful gift that will be proudly displayed for all to see. Maybe try an anniversary banner flag with the names and date of the event. Or just a simple ornament engraved with their names adds a personal touch not found in most gifts. Sometimes if the couple you’re buying for got married years ago, you can get them a unity candle, engraved crystal stemware or have the guests sign a guest book when they come to celebrate. They may not have had the opportunity to afford those types of wedding memorabilia at the time, so they’ll enjoy the second chance you’ve provided them.

Are you shopping for a birthday present? Personalized happy birthday banners make a great, never to be forgotten gift. Banners work for a child’s birthday as well as an adult. Personalized wallets are another birthday gift idea. Or, for the guy in your life, get a set of personalized cufflinks or a personalized leather key chain. Photo frames with pictures of loved ones make another cherished birthday gift. If a young adult is going away soon to college, get a personalized leather luggage bag and stick and favorite photo inside.

All of these gift ideas work for more than what I’ve suggested. Leather luggage bags work for housewarming gifts and wedding gifts. Personalized ornaments work for Christmas gift, Bar-Mitzvah, Valentines or to remember a loved one. Guest books also work for retirement, graduation, birthday or any other special occasion you want to remember the guests that came to celebrate. Banners also make great welcome home flags for our brave troops or to show your support for a favorite sports team. Whatever the gift giving occasion, personalized gifts make it more fun and memorable for all. I found all of these gift ideas at www.wealthwood.com.

In writing this I’m merely trying to spark some ideas to life, the true art of gift giving comes from inside each one of us, because only you know what you’re loved ones would use and appreciate. In my opinion, personalized gifts make special occasions more memorable and the gifts always seem to be treasured long after other gifts have faded away and become old.

Happy gift hunting :-)

How to Have a Great Wedding Without Breaking the Bank

icon1 admin | icon2 Weddings | icon4 06 18th, 2009| icon3No Comments »
C.L. Hendricks asked:

Just because the economy is in trouble, does not mean that you can not have a nice wedding.  Here are some great cheap wedding ideas that will help you to create a lovely and memorable wedding, without breaking the bank.  These will help you save money on the location, catering, decoration and other wedding-related expenses:

Reception Locations:

1. If you belong to a church you can often use the fellowship hall for free or for just a small fee.

2. Use the yard or house of a family member for the wedding and reception.

3. Have the reception at a local city or state park. Often they have pavilions that have electricity and are perfect for a casual outdoor affair. These are perfect for family-oriented affairs as there are usually playgrounds for the children.

Catering:

1. We cut our costs by having our relatives take care of different parts of the wedding as our wedding gift. This involved having each family member prepare a dish for the reception.

2. My mother-in-law made a fantastic wedding cake for us that I decorated.

3. You can save big money if you buy sheet cakes to serve your guests, though they never have to know. Have a single real cake layer made to cut during the reception, then have a few more fake layers made with Styrofoam but completely decorated on the outside. Once you cut the real layer, have the “cake” taken back into the kitchen, where the staff can cut the sheet cakes to serve.

Decoration:

1. Dollar stores carry a number of items that can be used to decorate the reception area. They also carry plastic champagne flutes, flowers, ribbon and decorative items in all the colors of the rainbow.

2. I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up lots of silk flowers and created all the flower arrangement for the wedding.

3. The bridesmaids carried antique lace fans, which I picked up on clearance at the local Wal-Mart and decorated with silk flowers and ribbon. They were beautiful and look great in the pictures, plus it was something unusual that the guests had not seen before.

Gowns and Makeup:

1. I bought a bridesmaid gown in ivory to wear as my wedding gown. It was beautiful, inexpensive and perfect for the hot August weather.

2. Consider shopping for your gown at a local thrift store or resale shop. I’ve seen some absolutely gorgeous wedding gowns and bridal party gowns at thrift stores. Often there’s not a thing wrong with them that a visit to a dry cleaners won’t take care of.

3. If you want to save money for the bridal party on hair, make-up and manicures/pedicures; look for a local beauty college.

4. Years ago when I was a beauty consultant for a cosmetics company, I agreed to do her makeup as my gift to her.

5. The night before the wedding, my maid of honor invited all of the ladies of the wedding party over to her house for an evening of giving each other manicures and facials. It was great fun and our nails looked perfect for the wedding

With these cheap wedding ideas and a little imagination and creativity you can have a beautiful and memorable wedding and still not break the bank.
